>Liberals make these arguments to distract from economic inequality and right wingers happily engage those arguments to distract from economic inequality.
I see people make this point a lot, but I have my doubts about it. Maybe a small fraction of elite politicians genuinely are Machiavellians who cunningly use the culture war to distract from economic issues, but I kind of feel that the majority of them are just genuinely stupid and/or deluded enough to actually believe in the culture war ideas that they push.

It's mostly cope all the way from OWS.
There were lots of conniption fits about this https://archive.is/1khJw, but out of the leaks I haven't read anything where Amazon actually encourages diversity to prevent unions, it's just what their charts show. Lots of other stuff was leaked, so you think if there was something explicit, that might have too.
It's that, plus the elephant in the room in that the left wing has basically given up on economic arguments ever since the end of the Cold War. They'll propose at most minor reforms and some new benefits, and that's it. Issue is like 33 years on you now have over a generation of left wingers who don't even know how to formulate any real economic argument outside of empty slogans.
