A lot of women find out they are better off when they are in control of their finances. I was shocked at how fast money piled up when my ex wasn't spending it. I don't know what he was spending it on. We didn't live extravagantly at all.

Women tend to be financially worse off 5 years after a marriage while men report being better than ever

>her husband's money

Literally doesn't exist. He has no money. He's gonna get half the money from the dissolving couple.

He's getting money, not losing money.

Semantics, Grusey.

It's like saying Adele's money from her music career that went to her husband wasn't hers since they were a couple when she earned it. The argument is based around the legalese concept of the couple as a unit but the source of that concept in the first place comes from the idea that they both contributed equally.

No, it's from the opportunity cost of marrying vs independent living and personal development.

See this only works if the other party can prove they gave up something of equal opportunity cost. Like hypothetically if Adele's husband was an acclaimed singer that gave up his potential superstar career for his wife then you might be able to make that argument. But the opportunity cost has to legitimately exist otherwise if it was about inventing any best case scenario you could turn it around by saying that if the other party was living independently they'd actually would have been far worse off in terms of personal and financial development, which would make them the ones that owe monthly alimony to the richer party instead.

No-fault divorce should be illegal. If I make a contract with someone, I can't get out of said contract without paying a penalty or if there is a fault in the contract or its execution, but somehow in divorce this fundamental principle goes out the window, because foids.
