In the post she says they've been dating for 4 years and she wanted a proposal in the next 6 months which is totally reasonable if you ask me.

Also, wanting a commitment after 6 months is not so strange if you're in your early 30s and need to get started on trying for kids. If you are a full blown adult and don't know if someone is worth marrying after 6 months then they are not.

Absolutely correct. If you're dating a high quality person, after 6 months you should either have no doubts or you're just fricking around.

It was four years, not six months. Six months was how long she gave him to make up his mind, and he made it up that he didn't want to marry her. Fair enough, but this should have happened earlier, like she said. Partly her fault for going along with it and assuming that eventually marriage would just happen.

Putting your foot down to end being a perpetual girlfriend is a good thing. It forced him to consider the relationship and since it wasn't worth keeping he ended it.

This should be done after 1-2 year mark in your 20s. And around a year or even sooner in your 30s

Four years and he's still "unsure"? Never going to happen. If you're not married within two years of living together, it'll never happen, because one or other party is too comfortable to change - they're getting the benefits of marriage without having to marry.

You know for as often as women talk about how we could crush their skulls with our bare hands, they sure seem to forget sometimes that we could crush their skulls with our bare hands.
