It's disheartening to see how -actual- Mexican films, with authenticity and cultural accuracy, don't receive this level of recognition. Instead, we get a film that diminishes the importance of language and cultural representation, all for the sake of style over substance. Imaging making an Italian language movie where Brad Pitt keeps his Italian in "Inglorious Basterds" not as a comedy but as a serious drama, that was this movie. A joke.
