This is when I like to remind Redditors that the EU doesn't guarantee same-s*x marriage. Redditors
then respond that it's an unfair comparison because the EU isn't a form of federalism (false) and that most EU residents have it.
That's the trap, though. I want them to admit that it's dumb to care about federal-level guarantees when the important question is whether people functionally get the right.

Okay, so you might be missing my point, which is that you can't compare selected parts of Europe to the whole US. Either compare (1) parts of Europe to parts of the US or (2) all of Europe (or even just the EU) to all of the US. The fact that the US and Finland each get one vote at the UN doesn't make them comparable for almost any other purpose.
If I can cherry pick parts of the US (rather than all of it), those US regions will stomp even the best national/regional median wages in Europe.
