Trench crusade runs into the problem that the forces of Christianity aren't the only game in town. You could also be a Jew or Muslim and so anyone who joins the forces of heck is an unredeemable monster and an idiot. The Imperium of man is in a secret alliance with Chaos and the Dark Eldar to keep humanity in its current state so there's no hope there apart from one of the billions of little alien empires sprout up. Also the current GW leadership unironically thinks Space Marines are like Captain America but let him have the Red Skull's values. (Insert soy face here)
