Kid cheats in chess years ago. Kid becomes good at chess. Kid beats former world champion in two games. Champ says kid is cheater and wont play him. Some random guy jokes he cheated with buttplug and media reports it seriously. Biggest chess platform publishes findings he cheated more recently than he admits. Kid gets banned from chess platform. Kid sues champ and chess platform and goes on Piers Morgan with his lawyer to embarrass himself before settling case year later. Champ agrees to play him. Fast forward Joe Rogan has champ reiterate that kid is suspicious and explains why. Chess redditors are divided between hating and loving the champ. Most new and young players support the kid, who is a twitch streamer. Kid supporters are saying champ is a bully, sore loser and the kid is just a young 23 year old child who made one ten hundred mistakes of cheating only 12 8 4 years ago.

Did they ever explain how they think he DID do it? Like it should be easy to find someone in the crowd giving him hints of something right?

IIRC, the investigation didn't come up with any way he could have cheated, nor any evidence that his play involved cheating.

They didnt find any evidence that he cheated on board, but they found over hundred instances of him allegedly cheating online previous to the tournament. There is a detailed report on this: Chess.com doesnt out players who cheat, but forces them privately to admit to cheating before banning them for a period of months or years. Hans admitted to cheating privately and they published his admission with the report. Cheating OTB is hard to prove unless you get caught red-handed.

Magnus never explicitly accused him of cheating in those two games, he just implied it. Magnus also said even if Hans did not cheat in those games, the fact that he was forced to play against a known cheater made him play badly. Note the kid was not supposed to play in the tournament originally when Magnus signed up but only replaced another player who dropped out in last minutes. Magnus main argument is not about whether Hans cheated in those games, but whether he has a right to refuse to play against a proven cheater, which is a perfectly legit argument in my opinion.

Him admitting cheating online:

Most likely the kid beat him without cheating and Magnus is sore loser but that doesnt meant his point about past cheating affecting those games is invalid.

That's nice sweaty. Why don't you have a seat in the time out corner with Pizzashill until you calm down, then you can have your Capri Sun.
