Its because it's like a safe, comfortable commodification of queerness for liberals. It comes of as un-genuine because queerness is naturally antisocial, and this is basicially a way for capitalism and "the system" to control dissent.
Theyfabs like this behave exactly like women except they take minoxodil to grow a moustache. Quirky. They aren't masculine in the way that a cis man or a bullcute butch are. It is Masculinity™ (now with 100% less Toxic Masculinity!)
