Give zero context, get zero interaction
lol u right my bad CONTEXT: basically 2 years ago I was an idiot I signed a class action suit I saw randomly online I forgot all about it I didn't really think anything of it this guy took me and a few hundred people's name and tried to black mail valve using our names and trying to overwhelm valve with lawsuit fees now valve is counter suing us and the guy and yesterday I got served with a court summons from a court in Washington thanks for coming to my ted talk what did I learn stop signing random stuff on the internet
"trying to overwhelm valve with lawsuit fees" lol.
Idk if it's lawsuit fees I forget what it was I would have to read the paper again it's like 50 pages but it's like something fees that they said the guy tried to overwhelm them with 🤷‍♀️ oh I looked arbitrations fees

Note: Half life 3 is always in development and the game keeps getting scrapped before reaching the end point because it's just not good enough yet.
The details are in the link but the general gist is Half Life 3 may have an open ended gameplay style, destructible environments, and player choices impacting game world.
Also check out this super cool Fan animation for half life:

It seems pretty clear that Valve does not like too iterate but prefers too revolutionize. The only time Valve wants too create a part 2 for something is when part 2 is a clear and undeniable upgrade over part 1.
Taking into account that the ps5 has been less of an upgrade over the ps4 than the ps4 was over the ps3, it feels pretty clear that valve would be okay with just selling Steam deck's for 10 years rather than replace it with something that is not unquestionably superior.
Valve also considers too OLED version of the steam deck too not be a next generation upgrade but rather what they would have preferred the steam deck too be from the beginning. They also missed out on something called VRR that you can read about in the article link.
Conclusion:
Valve chads only want too create new high quality things. They don't want too create something that is just a little iterative improvement. So no 2 or 3 year sequel. Only 10-12 years later sequel when the technology is completely different.
Orange box released is 2007 so they are most certainly overdue for an orange box 2.

I watched the gameplay videos and I don't really get it but from what I understand the game was made by some guy who is really famous for making MOBA games and people are saying that all the characters in the game are overpowered so everybody is on equal footing in that way but also fun. The 3 v 3 system in game makes sense as this generation has less people going out and doing things now. Looking at people getting excited for Deadlock makes me feel like an old man looking at the kids being weird but as long as they are having a good time who am I to complain.
The thing I like about Valve is that they are releasing games that test and try out new things even now and even if their games do not get the player count that goes up high enough, you can still study the game to figure out what works and what does not work.
While Deadlock does not appear to be anything as exciting as Half Life Alyx, it does feel like it would have more staying power due to being a MOBA equivalent and having a high player count already in Beta numbering about 40,000 even now and having a peak above 100,000.
Currently the game looks like it won't be able to surpass DOTA or League of Legends but who knows, maybe once it is out of beta it will have far more popularity, although my gut says that it will remain in the under 100,000 range but have a firm fan following that will not give up on it.
Long term, Valve needed a new online game and Deadlock seems to be a well enough fit to see the job through for the next decade.
If Deadlock succeeds, it would expand the Valve universe to half life, portal, team fortress, counter strike, and now deadlock. Which is a pretty good lineage to fall back on in case of an emergency.
This game is almost certainly going to be a success. If it becomes a hit we might see Valve go into a deep slumber for another 3-5 years. Which isn't really a bad thing considering that valve prefers to release games for a new generation over time.
What do you guys think the next Valve game is going to be?
Kamala will win.

I was debating whether to post this in slackernews or vidya but I'll take this opportunity to shit up a new hole instead
I've been trying to figure out the cause of massive average fps drops I started experiencing about a month ago. Originally I thought it was a bad graphics driver update until I realized it was CPU-related. Then I thought it was a thermal issue. But now I'm convinced that it was windows 11 deciding to dump games onto the e cores instead of the p cores. Forcing game processes to use ONLY p cores via processlasso last night essentially doubled my average fps in the games I was having issues with.
With the exception of fortnite, which uses an anti-cheat that blocks changing its CPU affinity
I finally bit the bullet today and fully disabled the e cores in bios, and now fortnite is working properly again. No noticeable performance loss in anything else.
Something similar to this issue happened a lot on windows 10 but win11 is supposed to be unaffected. As far as I can tell this is not a common problem and I suspect something may be wrong with my windows install. But if this fix continues to work then I can avoid the headache of a reinstall. I wish I knew what caused this, but in the course of rolling back and reinstalling every relevant driver from the past 6 months nothing changed. Could be a windows update, but I'd expect it to be more widespread if that were the culprit. Everything was running fine until about a month ago.
Adding this to the list of reasons why I will not be buying intel again for a long time.
tldr if you suddenly start having undiagnoseable performance problems on a 12th/13th/14th gen intel system (especially 12th gen), try disabling your e cores.
