Recommend me games for my new steam deck

I have tetris effect, the new yakuza gaiden and I managed to get dsda-doom on it with all my pwads

I barely play video games nor know what's good. My steam account is from 2003 and was barely touched after half life 2 so I don't know what good computer games are

I got this thing so I have some extra entertainment when I camp and it's been good so far for that purpose

Yeah I did that. I saw I could pirate :marseysoyswitch: games and run them at 60fps better than the original hardware was designed for . It's good. I have a MisterFPGA at home so porting all that over was easy

You can get complete libraries of pretty much everything in existence off archive.org and if you only go up to like ps1, the memory space needed is negligible. I've even discovered shit I've never even heard of like a Sega Saturn? Downloaded a bunch of their games, played Panzer Dragoon Saga and it's now one of my favorite games of all time.

But yeah I use my deck pretty much exclusively as an emulation machine. I am a vidya mega boomer and I couldn't be happier with the device. Emudeck is beautiful software too.

I got the complete of all 3DS games off of Usenet because they're there but now I don't know if any are good lmao it's just nice that this thing can emulate them

And I got that unreleased Xbox 360 goldeneye remaster for it and it runs perfectly what in the heck I remember when n64 was thought to be impossible to emulate

I thought so too for a lot of games! Like I wanted to replay Harvest Moon 64 for over 20 years now but the emulation was also either completely unusable or didn't work at all. Load it up on emudeck though and it runs flawlessly, no issues at all. 48/80 achievements and a great 30 hours or so out of it.

You can also buy a dock (I have the official one because I'm a BRAND cuck, but there are apparently superior third party ones) and play shit on your tv, battery not an issue at all. Add some USB or Bluetooth controllers built like the ones for the original consoles and it's literally the exact same thing.

Fricking love the deck and I'll soy out all day about how cool it is from an emulation perspective with EmuDeck.

Yeah I used some usb-c hub I got years ago for it. It's super impressive. I wish I could get better detail and fps on more modern games when connected to a tv but whatever.

Also the frame accurate n64 core is due any moment now for the misterfpga. It works really well so far

This has to be my game of the year.

Its still in EA but as some one with 500 in Issac this game is perfect to do a few runs after work.

I checked and its playable/ the game could run on a toaster your good.

I play PMC simulators, immersive sims and rouge likes for the most part for the last 5 years and have plenty to suggest but this would be my #1

Also I could use a recommendation for any shmups that utilize modern hardware. I'm interested in what these look like as I havent played any shmups post Radiant Silvergun

Radiant silvergun has better mechanics than ikaruga imo. If it didn't have all that anime in it it'd be perfect

I just recently got an ROG Ally. So a little more powerful but some notable games from my library

Batman Arkham Games - seriously they're all amazing. I played City and Knight but just finished Arkham Asylum, ran amazingly. Started playing City again and it runs great. I'm trying to knock all four out by summer 24.

Elden Ring runs well enough on the Ally. I assume the Deck should be able to at least play it low to medium settings 40-60fps. Best AAA game in a decade. I have 400 hours in it and still have fun picking it up from time to time.

FFVII remake has been fun. I picked it up on sale two weeks ago for like $35. I haven't played since the original on PS1. If you're into the genre and FF lore it's a good game but get it on sale for sure. Idk if it's worth full price but def worth $40 or less.

Witcher 3 has been fun to play portable. Runs decently well and the control scheme translates to these devices well enough.

I never played Bioshock but have owned them all for years. I played a few hours of the Bioshock remaster and it ran amazingly so that's a suggestion.

Dust: an Eysian Tail is a good one. I just love this game even if it's old. https://store.steampowered.com/app/236090/Dust_An_Elysian_Tail

Hades is a good pickup

Borderlands games are always on sale and fun looter shooters. I haven't played BL1 in a while but I can say BL2 holds up for sure as I replayed it last year.

Skyrim is an obvious choice. It runs on a potato and the menus were built for controllers.

Metro 2033 and Last Light were fun. I've only tested them on my Ally but they ran fine.

Nier Atomata is a great RPG. I really like the vibe of the world.

Sleeping Dogs is a low key sleeper pick as it's older also. But I replayed it during covid and was just as fun as I remember. I have it on my ally and ran the benchmark and can get 100+ fps on med-high so I assume steam deck should be able to crush it at constant 60 on med-high settings.

Diablo IV is perfect portable, but only if you're into that kind of game. If not or you're not sure don't waste your time

Ghostwire Tokyo has been fun but I'm playing on gamepass and only a few hours in.

Super Meat Boy and Celeste, maybe try Celeste first

The one I am currently working on most at the moment is High on Life but through gamepass. It is available on Steam. It's fun, gives me vibes from destroy all humans and ps2 era games. Idk why, maybe it's the stupid humor but it's just genuinely a good time. This one don't play in public though without headphones.

All these people with Steam Decks... where do you need to play games when you're outside? Dialysis treatment? Bikini wax? Hiding in the bushes waiting for that 2 second glimpse of the MILF next door stepping out of the shower? Neighbor go sit on a couch or at a desk and play games.
