First, the context about what we were marketing: the game is called I See Red, it's a twin-stick shooter roguelite about a man in search of vengeance, with a noir aesthetic, tied into the actual gameplay and also the narrative, meaning the graphics style is not just a "it fits/looks cool" but is also both a game mechanic and is part of the plot as to why the game looks the way it does. This is the USP of the game.

I had a client with a bunch of bangladeshi devs with some crazy investor budget and holy shit it was bad. First worlders might be way more money, but you can hire half of them and actually get technology that isn't 20 years old. I wound up quitting and was one of the only people paid in the end because I go for money and not "but muh trust with the nice client."

It's not dramatic to mention it, but if you actually check the thread, they're students, and this was basically a school project that got turned into a commercial release. That alone actually explains a lot of what went wrong here, there's a lot of mistakes you'd probably not encounter in a proper dev studio.

The game itself looks ok enough, pretty mid but I'm also not into twin stick shooters or roguelites so idc.

I saw twin stick shooter, rougelite, then plot and graphics as game mechanics and my brain turned off. There's an ocean of that crap already on steam
