One of the best games of the last decade (with one of the more disappointing sequels of this decade) got its sequel half-announced yesterday, with the publisher stating it will be a "multiplayer-focused live-service game." Holy yikes, for a game that had an expansion-turned-offshoot that sucked in part due to it removing the sense of being alone exploring an alien world, this is awful news, right? Twitter and the game's subreddit agree, because that's the correct take.
A lot of g*mer seethe here, but by and large can be summed up by this pic
Subreddit wasn't have much fun either. I think they deleted a lot of the posts after the devs Corrected the Record™️, so a little hard to find threads but there's still a few up. There is a little coping, too, but it seems most people are unsurprised that the devs continue to misunderstand why their game was good in the first place.

No one has ever used that definition of GaaS until now. GaaS as a term comes from SaaS, which is built entirely around recurring revenue and subscriptions. Why would they use that to represent just doing typical patches and updates if there weren't ideas for recurring revenue? There are three possibilities in my mind:
1 The investor relations team used GaaS because it's popular right now and makes investors happy, but they aren't actually implementing any GaaS aspects
2 The playerbase is being duped
3 They were planning to go GaaS and aren't now because we all freaked out

Subnautica isn't even in the ballpark of a game like Outer Wilds. Lots of people have suggest Subnautica and it does scratch some of the same itches but it's more about survival/crafting which has been done 6 gorrilian times. Outer Wilds hits all the exploration/mystery notes and does it better and also doesn't have an overplayed crafting system.

The best companion is Vicar Max. The other companions are fine, except the medic girl. She's suuuuuch a redditor and champagne socialist.
Main game story is fine. Its goofy and fun. The 2 DLCs are actually pretty high quality and fun and have a very much needed difficulty spike for combat.

I hated her. She's all of the worst things about Veronica from FNV dialed up but without any of the redeeming qualities.
Vicar Max was the only character in that entire game that behaved like an adult. His quest was still stupid though.
Did they add any weapon variety in the DLCs? The combat difficulty was fine if I pretended didn't know how to build a strong character but all of the guns were the same so it just became a chore pretty quickly.

DLCs have more science weapons which are the only weapons with worth messing around with after all because they are goofy. Can't remember if there were normal new weapons in them though.
The cracked out drug fiends have above average damage resistance so you actually have shoot them in the peepee multiple times.

Yes. But don't look into the game anymore than you have. @PeepeeButtKiss went in blind as a bat and @PeepeeButtKiss got some very unique surprises. Don't look up any of the puzzles or anything either. @PeepeeButtKiss been stuck on a few and @PeepeeButtKiss was stuck on only one that @PeepeeButtKiss had too look up and was kicking myself because it turned out too be so simple.
The game is excellent, one of @PeepeeButtKiss's favorite games ever but by the nature of it there is no recreating it. There is no levels or gatekeeping if you personally know how too reach the end game you could do it on a fresh save in ten minutes. The whole point is that you learn what too do and where too go. There is also a DLC which is great but if u do play it but shouldn't touch until after you're first playthrough at least. But it does add a ton too the game but it's like a different area.

Look up a playthrough or spoilers and if you are vibing then stop partway through and play the rest yourself. The big mystery isn't anything amazing anyway there's just kind of a nice ending

I stopped playing the game at first and only picked it up months later because the spaceflight physics were too hard. once u get the hang of it it makes sense and is even realistic u just have to keep an eye on your speed basically. Theres also some challenges likeflying to the Sun Station which aren't required but take advantage of the physics
plus on each planet the gravity value is different so when traveling on foot u can really zip around.
