Do I need to know how card games work/what card faces are worth in order to enjoy this game? I feel like I have procrastinated my entire life learning wtf all the cards mean and how they "rank" in value

Nah it has a full list of the points a hand is worth. You just need to know how to make the hands. The ranks of each card is the number value ie a 2 of clubs would
be worth 2 points when scoring. IIRC it also has a tutorial but trust me it's fricking 
awesome!
