South Park sisters, it's ogre

https://www.ign.com/articles/south-park-snow-day-review

Thanks to recent successes, we know exactly what a great South Park game looks like, and South Park: Snow Day! couldn't be farther from it. I'm a huge fan of throwing out the rulebook to try something completely fresh, especially in this age of samey sequels and forever live-service games that increasingly play it safe, but this bold attempt at a new direction misses the mark so drastically I'm aghast at just how sideways things went. Whether it's due to the thoroughly unenjoyable combat or the uncharacteristicly toothless and unfunny story, I can't recommend anyone waste their time on this cooperative lost cause – even my fellow die-hard South Park fans.

I thought IGN could only rate games 7/10 at the lowest

I suppose Stick of Truth was accidentally good rather than the dawn of a new genre like people were thinking at the time.

I enjoyed Stick of Truth and thought Fractured But Whole was a good follow-up but the entire series was always Paper Mario: The Thousand Jew Joke Door (except with a grid for the second game).

How did people think it was going to be a new genre? Also frickers should have gone with the ninja play-believe game as a third entry or at least dropped the wizard cartmen shit for a derivative of Snowday of all things.

I should say new South Park development method then or something instead of genre, people were thinking after a bunch of crappy South Park games they'd finally figured out how to make it good.
