Thanks to recent successes, we know exactly what a great South Park game looks like, and South Park: Snow Day! couldn't be farther from it. I'm a huge fan of throwing out the rulebook to try something completely fresh, especially in this age of samey sequels and forever live-service games that increasingly play it safe, but this bold attempt at a new direction misses the mark so drastically I'm aghast at just how sideways things went. Whether it's due to the thoroughly unenjoyable combat or the uncharacteristicly toothless and unfunny story, I can't recommend anyone waste their time on this cooperative lost cause – even my fellow die-hard South Park fans.
I thought IGN could only rate games 7/10 at the lowest

But when they strike gold it's absolutely head and shoulders above anything else. 99% of it is wingcuck garbage but when they ditch the politics it's great. And it usually involves butters.
The ep where he finds out his dad's gay, the VR episode, the one where they go to casa bonita, the one where they go to somalia to be pirates

All those good episodes are eons ago. Old south park was kino, they had the sort of casual improv vibe that modern family guy cutaways have. Family guy used to take itself more seriously but since Seth MacFarlane is an actual good writer it worked out. South Park takes itself serious now and it's just slop.

Him getting lost during their border patrol game was a pretty good one. Goofing on scientology with the “THIS IS WHAT THEY ACTUALLY BELIEVE” was great too.
The show has some diamonds in the rough and is more fun when trolling than preaching. It is still mid though.
