And are trying to desexualize races and species which were created mostly for fan service
That's why Qunari, like Asari got uglier each game
Both of these were very fanservicy to begin with and thus attractive
One were a blue, bisexual and horny, all female alien race.
Other - obviously dominatrix type of a species, like Drow, but with attractive males, also and more muscular and tall women.
Qunari were little less of a obvious fanservice compared to Asari and many women played Inquisition so there at least was a 'hot' male Qunari follower in that game.
Thus at least with inquisition - it one could say that Male characters were still attractive for the girls and the gays.
And post about hypocrisy of it all
But looking at the followers in the newest Veilguard game?
Idk - one male and one female character can be considered good looking
Others are mid or fugly
And it boggles my mind, why?
For people, who care for romances in vydia - None of them want to romance fugly characters
Same with people who care much about character creation
Most of 'girlg*mers' I've seen posting their characters in multiple rpg games online, they are trying to make them attractive
That bioware made female characters of two species specifically created by former devs as fanservice less attractive in an attempt to desexualize them.
Which is not always a bad thing
That they still had hot dudes in inquisition to attract female or gay male fan base?
Which is not a bad thing, look how many women and gay dudes play BG3
Or that both male and female followers are mostly ugly by comparison in Veilguard and some look like a racial caricature a righthoid would make?
Apparently sell, so good for them, I applaud them that they managed to find someone to make money off other than straight dudes.
One thing I dislike the fanbase and devs for doing is - still pretending they are not catering to their new top buying demographic and reeeing about oh, no only an incel would find her or him ugly.
Just go with it like other games did.
It's like with remakes of movies - Own it twats, or do you need that chinese and middle east market that much
If anything Bioware went too deep into fan service. Now nearly every major companion is frickable regardless of orientation. The romances barely have relevance to the main story as they're all literally "Press Heart dialogue option enough times to unlock s*x scene!"
This all peaked with ME: Citadel, which was fine as a culmination of a 3 part series but became the standard for the kind of player worshipping fan service the devs would get into.
DaO had Alistair, DA2 had Hawke himself as the attractive male in whatever romance you put him in and Inquisition had Cullen and Blackwall. Dorian was a fun character though not my type appearance wise. This game has Lucanis I guess? Though I really doubt he'll be much more than a tired cliché. Man this game is a bit depressing in the character section.
People at the top desperately knowing they need to shift/grow their customer base and for some reason listening to ideologically driven r-slurs who say the only way forward is appealing to uggos and s.
Why the money people trust the r-slurs, who knows. Maybe they've always trusted r-slurs and made money by coincidence, maybe they're sucked into the ideology too, maybe black rock DEI initiatives have so filled the ranks with r-slurs that there are few non-r-slurs to give good opinions.

It's so obvious what new bioware is doing
They are trying to lure new userbase

What was so goobergatory in my post

They service other fans they attracted since DAII
Queer and straight women and femboys

Apparently it was like 50 50 on last Dragon age game
Women liked it like the Sims
Again it's okay, make and play your games, buy millions of copies of it
Pbut don't pretend that you still do equal fan service for everyone.
somehow on supposedly inclusive online spaces, it's always the dude g*mers fault
It's either, 'you are insecure if you don't want to play as a butch lesbian'
Or if you play and still critique the game for other legitimate reason and not that it has da gays
They say
'this game wasn't made for you, don't play it'
'fine'
'noo, return or I will call you sexist'
But just go and open any 'girlg*mer' forum and you will see hundreds of post like this
'i refuse to play or support a game if it has only male protagonist'
Ironically even if he is a queer or a racial minority or both
Girl g*mers were mad at both ac syndicate, which still had canonically existing male protagonist ( he was first bi male protagonist in AAA title btw)
And Mirage ( for a middle eastern man as a protagonist)
If those were comments made in male forum they would be marked as racist and biphobic
