It's not SOMA? That ancient game released like 9 years ago. I doubt a kid who plays games today would even be scared of it with how bad the graphics must look by now.
SOMA was less of a terrifying game and more of a good horror story.
I think Alien Isolation is scarier.
If we go by environmental quality Little nightmares 2 is a better horror game.
I would say SOMA is the best horror story game.
Outlast trials is viscerally more scarier due to how it delves into gory and psychological horror.
I think SOMA could still count in the top 10 so far but other than that no way does it make the top 5 anymore.
Even the Mortuary assistant would be scarier.
SOMA is the best existential horror with mass appeal out there.
They even got a spiritual successor to SOMA now, it's called Still Wakes The Deep. If you liked SOMA I think you should play that.

Man, I played it some years back and it just never clicked. I played it all the way through on hard difficulty but it felt like a slog. None of the guns were particularly interesting (no alt fire!) and there were like five enemy types. Didn't really use the melee moves but those felt like a gimmick you only use a couple of times anyway. It also wasn't particularly scary.
