Unpopular take, but I think this game will do okay despite the amount of money they wasted on nonsense :impishchud:

It'd be very hard to frick up this next Dragon Age game imo. The series has turned the pandering wish fulfillment fanservice up to 11 in every aspect. All the companions exist to fellate the player. Romances have very little narrative or characterization value anymore, they just exist as dating sim diversions. Each new release places a greater importance on the player as the chosen one savior of the universe. Most of the thematic "depth" in the games' writing that gets praised is just composed of sloppy allegories to real life.

I know this stuff sounds like chud whining :chudtantrum: but I genuinely hate this pandering as a whole. I was one of those people who was really annoyed by the Asari and Quarians just being sexier Star Trek aliens, aka humans in cosplay. The Asari are literally just a single gender of super hot blue women that can frick any race and breed with them. The Quarians were sort of interesting cause of the mystery but then it turns out they're the most human looking aliens ever facewise. Even culturally most of the the various races are very much human-like. It's still creatively bankrupt as frick. Even Star Wars had better variety than this.

The one aspect of DA that was actually unique and creative were the Qunari in both appearance and culture, and even they are getting humanized for mass appeal now.

Nah you're totally right and I share almost all the same complaints. I mostly mean complaints about the the characters builder when I talk about chud whining.

Sad that Origins was the only game on the series could make the player feel ike you were in an actual place. It's depiction of the dwarf capital in particular is probably my favorite depiction of fantasy dwarfs in any game.

That said, you can have really fan servicey characters and make a game that is still pretty fun, even it's not immersive like BG3.

I think bioware could hit the same notes there. The fangirls drawn in by larian are probably looking for another game to play at this point.

I think for the parts that were actually fleshed out DA2 did an even better job of world building as it had a novel premise and some of the most creative character designs in the whole series. The companion narratives were woven into the main story in a meaningful way and weren't just coomer diversion side plots.

Origins is of course better and remains the best game in the series but I retain a soft spot for DA2 cause I agree with a lot of the concepts the game designers were going for.

I don't hate fanservice by itself, I just don't like it when I think the story is suffering because of it.

Asari are whatever, I don't mind ME having one race for coomers but Quarians were a waste of potential. :marseydepressed:

Yeah the Asari were pretty much the Mass Effect version of Twileks except even more coomery but it's just one race.

Tali's face reveal was literally just a photoshopped stock image of some irl model. Compared to the concept art which made her look very alien it was very disappointing. I think making Tali look very human kinda de-emphasized her overall humanity in a meaningful way.

Coomer chuds are just as bad as they too love their ham-fisted allegories and surface level pandering.

It will I however hope that the character creator and the game gets some criticism from the people they are trying to promote this game to

It already started.

But yes, it will sell good, but I hope not as good as Inquisition did
