I think they have money, I just don't think they were actually going to buy the games anyway. Crazy to think that people have made a hobby about complaining about inclusivity in video games, you would figure that well dried up long ago. Well, they probably are technically g*mers, but just have like 5k+ hours in stardew valley or something.

I think a lot of the early ones were academics or jurnos who saw a social cause they supported and jumped on it even though they have little to no interest in videos games. Now it's soys and women who have a little bit more gaming overlap. Along with trains who actually do play the games they try to change but that's a whole other issue.

Kids are sensitive to the rule of cool and most of the millennial developers don't realize they've aged into not really being part of that. I think they underestimate how easily they can tilt into "lame" territory, I don't think companies like Ubisoft will ever recover.
