The game gets out of it's way to not show any religious Hindu symbols, and the germans in the trailer are actually Imperial germans from the reformed Monarchist germany, but still use very clear nazi aesthetic. Its weird thing, where they don't show the no-no-germans, but show what we clearly associate with them but under a different flag. Limp-wristed half measure from people afraid to commit.
Anyway, Evil is often cool, but that's fine because most people know that evil is evil. Journos are not people though, so this is a expected take from one of their kind.

Nazism killed 12 million over it's entire existence, which we know very precisely, Stalin by that point had already killed (in accordance with lower end estimates) 20 million. Mao, killed somewhere in the range of 60-100 million in a 27 year period, only a period twice as long as the nazi tenure, and without waging a global war where you were collection POWs simultaneously.

He didn't systematically kill them though, high end of people Stalin intentionally had killed is like 5 million at the very very high end. The rest of that is from famines and deaths of people from removements (not systemic, accidental). Though you can make an argument (one I disagree with) that the famines were intentional, they weren't intentional and systemic in how they killed people, certainly not any more the Nazi's famines. It's hard to get to a 20 million death figure with Stalin without the Nazi's also reaching higher with similar degrees of blame.

The 12 million, are specifically civilian deaths as part of the programs exercised by the national socialist government, most of the camps were very similar to gulags. But a few were actually for killing. But many still died in the work camps, just like millions died in gulags during forced labour, food shortages or purges.
A large part of the 12 million died in transit too, most of them going to workers camps, sending workers to death projects or even just camps with little food, even if is "without intention", is certainly a systemic death. Many such deaths occured under stalinist russia, not just the holodomor.
20 million is in line with the civilian atrocities commited under stalinist russia. The 12 million is what the nazis themselves recorded with great precision.

Reminds me but I think it's really funny how the doom modding community hates the brutal doom guy when he's probably the entire reason why people still care about classic doom.
I also find it kinda funny how people call him whiny for saying that id software ripped his ideas off for Doom 2016 but honestly he's not wrong. The modern rendition of doomguy is literally just an extrapolation of "wow, brutal doom was cool" made into a character.

Doom didn't have Duke Nukem style executions. Guy makes Brutal Doom mod that has these executions and makes it so enemies can have their limbs and whatnot blown off while overhauling the entire armoury.
NuDoom has executions and a redone classic armoury, like Brutal doom you replenish health from performing executions. The berserk powerup in Doom 2016 is basically the exact same as it is in Brutal Doom which was made years before doom 2016. Little similarities like that that stack up.

It's so that they don't get ya'll'd in Germany. Only art can have depictions of Nazi imagery and it's debatable on whether or not games are art and I doubt PDX wants to be the ones to try and litigate it. Though in Germany they also go one step further and black out Hitler's picture as well but I presume doing that which is two portraits is easier than changing every flag reference so just set the flags once to something PC.
