People blamed gaymergate but it's actually LoL who did unrepairable damage to the industry.

Too much Focus on Esports? LoL fault.

Microtransation bullshit? LoL fault (or rather popularized it to the west).

Introducing foids to gayming? Definitely LoL fault.

No more N-word in chat? LoL fault.

GaaS? LoL fault.

Glorifying personal achievement instead of teamwork? LoL made it worse.

:#marseyakshually: the first one to have brought Korean-style MTX cancer to the West was Battlefield Heroes in 2009, and a year later in 2010 TF2 added lootbox gambling and skin/item trading, Valve would do the same to CS GO two years later.

Introducing foids to gayming? Definitely LoL fault.

Maybe?, not well-versed into foidshit when it's not about snowbunnies and ricebunnies bvilt for BBC and BWC :chad:

No, that was Runescape in 2001, and was later popularized by WoW and Blizzarslop

Glorifying personal achievement instead of teamwork? LoL made it worse.

Dunno about this one either :marseyconfused2:

Either way, League definitely did popularize way too much of the modern post-2010s globohomo rainbow foidshit artstyle and turbo-neurodivergent community that has plagued post-2010s vidya.

Overwatch did popularized foid-gayming with the support Mercy shit, but LoL definitely introduced the concept first with foids playing only support or female characters.

I blame the Korean foids.

Overwatch also popularised lootboxed, before that I can only recall Counter Strike and TF 2 to have them.

Nah, they were already in plenty of games at that point, it was just the first game marketed largely towards kids with lootboxes. Which you probably were at the time :marseysmug3:

Battlefield Heroes

That game was so fricking good before they cucked it with pay to win micro transactions.

Neighbor that was the intention from the beginning, Battlefailed An Heroes was a lab rat prototype/experiment for EA to test and analyze how the pay-to-win MTX system from Korean MMOs would have worked in the Western online game market. !g*mers

Incorrect. LoL was just a freak lightning in a bottle game.

LoL stumbled into success and it was Blizzard-Activision who saw that and said "We can replicate that!"

And boy did they try and frick it up for everyone.

You mean with Overwatch?

Also !g*mers tell me, what exactly is the relationship that League has to Blizzard?, I know that DOTA started out as a Starcraft mod but then its IP went to Valve (like how Team Fortress started as a Quake mod which thus belonged to id Software), how did League begin?, did it also begin as a Starcraft mod or something?, and would Blizzard feel lawsuit-happy if they see their same game tactics and overall premise being infringed?, I was actually surprised to learn 10 years ago that League was not a game by Blizzard, it had Blizzslop written all over it.

League didn't begin as anything. One of the old dota devs joined up with a new company and they made league. No relationship with anything otherwise.

Guinsoo and Pendragon went from DotA to Riot. One day Pendragon suddenly shut down the OG DotA allstars forum and replaced it with an ad for LoL. That forum had thousands of posts, many of which had original character concepts like Rammus and Teemo. Hence the groans when Teemo was released as an official LoL hero. OG Kassadin was a blatant ripoff of DotA's Anti-Mage too with his teleportation and mana burn. IIRC Pendragon was well-known on the LoL forums for having that douchey gigajanny phenotype.

As to your other question, Blizzard and Valve had a fight in court over the WC3 question. Not sure exactly what went down but Skeleton King in Dota 2 was suddenly renamed Wraith King and remodeled

Dota gets made in WC 3, then remade as standalone games (Dota, LoL, Paladins etc.), Bobby Kottick to this wakes up sweaty in the middle of the night thinking about all the money he's missed out on.

He and all the Blizzard higher ups are mad salty about it ever since.

I keep forgetting that Blizzard didn't make LoL and that LoL's actually made by a weird inbred bastard company called 'Riot' instead of one of the Important Ones People Care About.

There really isn't "too much focus on esports" if anything, it's the opposite. Youtubestrags and their /v/irgin followers just needed a boogeyman to sneed at
