Historically Blizzard's compensation is well below market and they treat their employees like shit. To keep employees they foster god complexes so you take the abuse because your special and work at Blizzard.
Only narcissists who are also very stupid take this deal.
I work in healthcare. There is a similar trick here where certain institutions will preach about how proud you should be a part of the team, bettering humanity, saving lives etc...
They say this as other hospitals in the city pay 30% more and scratch their heads as they hemorrhage FTEs.
One of the main reasons executives get fired here is because they think they dont have to do market adjustments.
