Guardian gave it 100/100 we can throw that review in garbage can
Author of the review made a whole big butt article where he bitching about cutscene
Any one who played video games know a cutscene is better than an in-game cute scene where you can control your character because those are unskippable.

Every single aspect of this game feels like a half assed step forward that turns into falling down the stairs backwards. I'm surprised Paradox hasn't tried cornering the 4x market on their own yet.
Making diplomacy and building tall even worse by doing a soft reset three times a game is going to take a shallow Petri dish and make it even shallower.

Why does every civ competitor add tons of tactical combat bloat? 4X are supposed to be strategy games, not tactical battle simulators. What's next, loading into a game of COD to resolve every battle for "immersion"?

"Doomstacks" are hard to beat if you're shit at the game while tactical combat lets you still win if you have an IQ greater than 90. Therefore you have a much bigger audience instead of just people who understand that a game focused on the strategy layer should be won on the strategy layer.

Loding to a doomstack is the game teaching you that you should have your own doomstack.
