Wonder how many dustborns these dumb butt corpo r-slurs need before being like "Hey, wait a second... No one likes the content these :marseytrain2:s produce!"

They didn't expect Dustborn to sell well. It wasn't about the money, it was about sending a message.

They're not entirely wrong. The only people who bought Veilguard are the clueless fangirls there for the shipping and fanfiction. EA should have milked them for more money :marseysdwhale:

Wilson said that games must align with the changing expectations of players who prioritize "shared-world features" and "deeper engagement" alongside compelling narratives. In other words, he expected the game to have been more successful if it had featured live service elements.

Lol. Android Willson still in top form.

"Deeper engagement", is it possible to be more vague?

Yea, I guess "shared world" implies some kind of online element, but I've never heard that term before and "deeper engagement" is vague to the point of meaninglessness. So, I'm not sure that the CEO is even blaming a lack of live service, but Redditors will eat up that characterization, of course. And they're ignoring that he also said the narrative sucked, which is true.

As soon as I saw the title I wanted to check PRIMARY SOURCES, but I failed to get a transcript.

It's hard to tell what he meant exactly. But that's how he works. :idontknow:

Same here. I eventually found it, but nothing useful. There's 4 mentions total of Dragon Age and the only one with any elaboration is the one we're already talking about.

I'd bet that what he means with "deeper engagement" is bs FOMO battlepass mechanics (because you're more invested, aka engaged, in the game and feel like you gotta play every day or else you won't have enough time to get all the unlocks). And to be fair, he would be kinda correct, at least with zoomers; the zoomzooms absolutely expect games these days to have season passes with constant new cosmetics/shit to unlock. It's not exactly their fault either, we gaming boomers would be the same way if we had grown up on this slop and didn't know anything different :marseydepressed:

We had MMOs that expected you to pay $$$ a month just to play the fricking game.

So yea, point taken.

"Deeper engagement" isnt vague.

It means they want more of money by keeping you in the casino longer.

That's what he wants, but the way he phrased it, the claim is g*mers want "deeper engagment", but that's like saying people want "fun" it's so broad it means frick all.
