I honestly think because progressives have been screeding about how women were literally viewed as chattel historically chuds have taken that as fact and think we should return to that. When in reality that is horse shit and women and men were a lot freer historically than people think.

But even in victorian US. Whole lot of women didn't get married. Something like 20% never got married. In UK 1850 it was 25% and there was way more women in UK then in men. In many ways women lacked liberty they had in medieval Europe. Yet they werent treated like property.

Until the 20th century they didn't even really have the concept of teenagers out there. You were either old enough to work or a child. There is a reason so many 13 or 14 year olds were working the mines in the UK.
