the most incompetent company ever got handed so much money with the memestock explosion :marseyxd:

They mostly just had their execs get paid insane amounts who all just left, they threw the rest into an NFT platform which failed

They kept issuing new shares to take advantage of the meme stock morons and got 4.6 billion out of it. They could have changed their business model if they actually cared and wanted to create value for their moron shareholders. But they get rich doing nothing soooooo

You're coming to rdrama to ask how a multi-billion dollar company should pivot to stay viable?

Idk that would be hard. They've got a lot of cash on hand and 5,000 physical stores. They have assets, they could do anything, they don't have to even be involved with videogames. Almost anything would be better than their current business model.

Maybe they could use the money to turn their stores into barcades? Those are pretty popular. I'm sure complying with bar regulations would be a pain but its doable.

Focus more on board games. I've seen wine/cheese board game places that are very popular. Would only work with locations that get actual foot traffic, no strip mall bullshit. A rebrand would be in order too.

Maybe buy out a smaller company thats doing well, and use your superior resources to expand what the smaller company was currently doing, shed your irrelevant retail locations. I'm sure there's no shortage of startup founders willing to take a payday.

Those ideas arent great, but I only took like 5 minutes thinking about it and I still think they all have more potential than what gamestop is currently doing. The current model is pay rent on store locations and pay workers to sit at a store that no one ever has a reason to go to.
