Having a coherent plot alone makes it good for vidya writing. Maintaining that in an RPG with player choice puts it up there with the best written 90s cRPGs. That's how dire vidya writing is. If you think a ton of other games are better written I want to know what they are.

The game is pre-doomed because Microsoft is spending money making games for years to give them away free on gamepass and then get mad they're not making money off that. It'll go the way of hi-fi rush where Microsoft will blame Obsidian for their own r-slurred business practices then shutter them to be a B team support crew for the new elder scrolls (which they will give away free on gamepass then get mad about not making money)

I can see it with Grounded, the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" game definitely has a nostalgic appeal. It's a chill survival game and most people probably lose interest after 4-5 sessions anyways so perfect for gamepass. It's fun enough but you can't even tell it's a game by Obsidian, like that shitty tank game they made years back.
