If Sony publish a Sony game on Xbox it’s sets dangerous example for Sony’s business like are we sure horizon 2 isn’t coming next year on the Xbox now ? The second game sales were worst than first and it was a new ip and big part of the low sales is that people now just waiting for pc release. Sony’s new generation of economist are r-slurs. They seems to have no concept of explicit/implicit cost. Sony mostly makes money from royalties so they are interested that people buy their consoles and exclusives are one of reason why people will buy the console. Even if the game flops but it forces 100k new users to buy ps5 for that game in the end that game could had generated more profit because those 100k new people start buying other games. Sony ain’t nintendo they won’t survive as game publisher like sega, bandai, square enix, capcom and etc. Sony barely has any popular franchise or very old school franchise. Their most successful franchises were last of us and horizon and both 2nd games flopped.

I am more interested how more r-slurred they can be. In 2018 they told they will stop making many new games because spiderman was successful and fanboys supporter that decision. Sony did this to put playstation revenue in its smartphones business, they tried to resurrect it. Any one with 2 digits IQ would know it’s a bad idea. So in 2016 the Sony smartphones sold 7 millions and in 2020 2.9 millions. Companies often make interesting decision that should never be done by simple economical calculation
