When did childrens toys and cartoons become what adults want and expect from the entertainment industry. This shit always trips me out. Especially something like pokemon. The most brainless rpg collectathon for 6 year olds and it feels like 2/3s of the audience is 24-32 year olds.

I feel like the majority of media pre-millenial reboot phase wasn't high brow or quality or anything, at least anymore than the stuff now. It just kept up a pretense that it was more adult and people had less free time to make consuming media their lives. And redoing the same shit isn't that new. I Love Lucy went through like 4 spin-offs/"new" shows over 30 years.

I was mainly thinking of TV. Every family/friend group sitcom they've made since the 60s. Or all the adventure whatevers. There are hundreds of shows with like 6 seasons that nobody remembers since television started, just weird random shit you had no idea they made. That was ultimately boring garbage. Heck, they were spitting out Marvel shows back in the day too.
