We need less news posting in general. Those accounts that just post like eight copy+pasted articles per day with no drama or commentary are the worst on this site, you know the ones I'm talking about.
I think there was a big surge of news posting around the time people figured out the dramacoin algorithm (that's why they copy+paste the article into the post body, lots of links plus a really long post = #1 on /hot with four upmarseys) which is now dying down now that it's been nerfed. It's kind of like how schizocel was able to force memes because @ ing a bunch of people in posts counted as links (which helped push her posts up because of the aformentioned dramacoin algorithm)

Imo the opposite, when links counted there was more incentive to post links to individual comments with drama and shit not just copy paste an article
The pinging was just cuz I was accused of being krayon (sister toucher) and went through his old posts to prove I was not krayon (sister toucher), then I saw him ping a bunch of people so I stole his idea lol. I didn't know it helped boost post via links, and when I did I foolishly told the snek who got rid of that lol. But ironically yeah that helped me and joe (who also didn't know about the link thing) a lot back when it was a thing
Carp has convertmaxxxed me to be anti hole in general, but I think this is a rare case where holes are useful. Like
@SlackerNews posts a ton of news but always uses his mnn or sn holes ; so it's easy for people to block them if they don't wanna see that. Personally I enjoy news posts and like engaging with that kinda content, and I don't see the downside of it if it's relegated to a hole

Have you read any news article in your entire life? Most of them contain multiple hyperlinks, same with copy pasted news articles on rdrama. Post length also contributes towards the algoithm fyi

I have never read a news article before, but I have copied some to drama from time to time, and when I do the needful on my phone
it doesn't copy the hyperlinks.
And iirc post length addition is newer, I forgot about that tho and I've been up for like 35 hours so I don't really wanna check, but IMO even if it counts, there is the issue of dramacels be lazy and aren't finna scroll
And comments count too towards ranking
So like idk someone else can do the math, but if pasting a long butt article gives u the equivalent of 3 sorens; but stops 5 commenters from commermaxxxing, and comments are worth 2 sorens each, made up numbers but u get the point
