He's been doing a good enough job questioning the witnesses to prove that isn't literally r-slurred. He should be smart enough to understand how stupid he's being, if that makes any sense.

The judge already found him competent to represent himself. You probably can't simultaneously be smart enough to represent yourself and dumb enough to bear no responsibility for your actions.
Burgerland has put r-slurs to death before, Insanity/incompetence defenses don't do much other than alter what kind of institution you end up in
