there is a real goofball on trial named darrell brooks who is definitely guilty
because everyone thinks he is an butthole we made a baitsub, /r/justice4darrell
some madman made a post claiming to be one of the jurors
We thought it was funny so we pinned it, I added a comment saying it was verified lol
redditards take the bait and start spreading it around. we end up on pretty big streams (RekietaLaw and Destiny) so things snowballed from there
Tons of people emailed the DA's office and the courthouse with the post since it is super illegal for a juror to be talking about the trial
Somehow it ends up in the hands of the Judge, who brings it up, leading to a discussion between brooks, the prosecutor, and the judge about this dumb reddit post
The judge promises to have the sherrif's department investigate it
note that this trial is national news, so hundreds of thousands of people are following this, perhaps even millions, depending on how you count it
