I don't know about his role currently, but Musk was heavily involved with and the final arbiter of engineering decisions during the early years of SpaceX. Even if he wasn't doing anything technical personally, being able to attract and select quality engineering talent requires competence.
It's just cope from under-employed and over-educated degree collectors, who have never done anything of merit.

The redditor's entire worldview is constructed by dividing the world into two camps: right and left. Anything in the left camp is wholesome chungus, anything else is in the right camp and thus evil. Elon used to be provisionally in the good people camp, owing to his electric car and heckin mars projects. Then he did some chudly things, and thus was thrust into the evil people camp. Now, importantly, how evil a person is is multiplied by how wealthy they are, so elon = a little chudly * very wealthy = the devil incarnate.
