Drama

Have you ever thought about how people don't have $100 fricking dollars to pay an artist for commissions? For one commission? Sorry I'd rather pay $25 a month for INFINITE stolen artwork than one $200 commission "made with love". I've got bills too dawg

Finally. Somebody who ain’t trying to simp and is actually being real. Literally getting the most for your dollar. Didn’t realize that was a problem

the fact that people care more about saving money than they care about artists literally is the problem

I believe in free markets not morals sweaty

:#marseyyes::!#marppy:

I mean. It’s 8 dollars for 30 days of whatever I want versus a 100$+ commission. One commission. Idk bout you but you not bout to make me feel guilty for being smart with my money. Silliest take I’ve seen today tbh

Oh sorry I like to commission real artists and not pay for stolen art. One commission that benefits a human being or dozens perpetuating theft

Art is a luxury I cannot afford living off 800$ a month from SSI. So it'll have to be AI art. Atleast it's accessible to me.

But ai art isn't the only alternative? You can still enjoy art online for free, enter art raffles, try out drawing or writing yourself if your health allows and do exchanges with people. You can still fully support artists when you can't afford it; ai art damages us.

An artist I know wanted over $100 to draw a charicature cover of a bday card (standard half-fold, about 5x7in). Tried asking for no color, just line work. Didn't change the price. I declined and ended up using Bitstrips (back when that was a thing). I should have let him rob me?

So you robbed multiple other artists' works to create some horrendous piece that can't get eyes or hands right. You're so cool.

:#marseyagree:

For those who said 8$ is less pricy than commissioning an artist, buying art is a luxe, not a need. You don't necessarily need a art piece. Artists would put 100$ for one piece and it would still be underpaid. Please reconsider buying/using AI if it's not for study purposes.

so poor people just shouldn't have art? man i want pretty walls with pretty artworks too

Yeah just like if you can’t afford to tip don’t eat out kind of BS this is becoming

People are ok with paying an electrician 100 dollar for 1 hour of work, but don't want to pay artists 100 dollar for numerous hours of work... What a world we live in

If an app could fix electrical issues for $8 everyone would use it. You are comparing apples to oranges. Not everyone has $100’s of dollars for art.

Then you don’t have the money for art point blank. It’s a luxury not a need. If you can’t afford it you save you don’t pay someone to steal for you.

Sorry if you're poor you're not allowed to enjoy things!

Yikes some of the replies to this 😬This is why I can't support this, it's just outright disrespectful to artists trying to make a living just cause you're broke and can't afford it 🤡 draw it yourself or cry about it

Looks like you're gonna have to get a new job soon to support yourself

Artists are the most privileged annoying ppl on the internet.

>WAAAHHHHH Pay me !!!

get a job if you arent getting enough commissions. Choosing to do free lance anything and then blaming others that u dont get enough work -_-

If you're good people will pay you. Because you can be way more specific than any (current) AI program with commissions.

I'm glad we have @X (formerly chiobu) chained up in the Marsey mines doing it for free. Slave labor is real labor.

I think that AI is good for generic Artstation photobashes and speed paints, but it absolutely does not stand up to scrutiny or detailed inputs.

I think it's always gonna struggle with advanced compositions with multiple characters interacting, dynamic action and odd perspectives. Heck, even when you just want to communicate a clear message through composition it'll cause issues.

These are things that you really can't properly verbalize easily through prompts. As such the AI isn't the problem, the layman's inability to properly conceptualize and communicate is and it'll be hard for tech to overcome that.

Then again you don't need to be a master artist to solve it either, you could approximate a lot of it with posable 3d models. That said knowing what, how and why you'd arrange these things still takes some training and composition overall will probably become a much important aspect for artists as AI cowtools take over much of the rendering.

Even now, someone with basic art software skills cam get a lot more mileage out of artgen than the prompt-only layman. Most (all?) variants can take an image as an input, so doing something like posing some 3D models in Blender and using it as a starting input can help generate more complex compositions tremendously.

It won't always need to be driven by text prompts. You can already drive it almost entirely using images, eventually you'll probably have a tool like photoshop where you can specify exactly what goes where in a 3d space and have it generate it for you. You'll probably even be able to dynamically modify the camera angle and shit in the scene it's created for you.

It’s moving so fast with all this attention I think it’s inevitable it replaces a lot of shit lol.

Yea but most art is just generic pleasing background images anyways

Artcels are almost exclusively rich white kids larpering as poor. No poor or middle class parent is going to let their kid go to art school.

A lot of artcels didn’t even go to art school, they just drew a lot and expect to charge ridiculous prices for a hobby.
