Lol looks like I was right. I know nothing about this case as I only follow N/A sports, but I don't get how redditors don't feel a bit embarrassed at this point. Every recent sports r*pe case that I can think of where they've wanted the guys head has turned out to be a complete joke: Jake Virtanen, Patrick Kane, Derrick Rose, Kristaps Porzingis, Evander Kane...

The case stopped because he got engaged to the victim in between so she's not testifying. There's literally audio of him raping her.

In this case, the combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that has come to light means that there was no longer a realistic prospect of a conviction.

Is the official CPS statement so it wasn't just that she withdrew but yeah if she isn't going to represent her side the case has no legs to work with in the first place in front of the jury.

This time feels different because of the audio recording and the fact they're now back together. Clubs will do their own investigations (his current club just announced theirs), and unless she states outright that they were roleplaying or something (i.e. she lied to the police), I don't see Greenwood having a career again. One or the other will have to take the fall.

Or maybe they'll jet off into the sunset, have kids, and die in each others arms in a nursing home. :marseyembrace:
