The first three books are basically the intro, EOTW is…extremely lotry on a superficial level. TGH+TDR are unique but still the introduction. Everything finally properly starts in TSR and it is like nothing else. Though the whole “you have to read ~4000 pages first to see if it’s your thing” is a really hard sell and I get that.
It does blossom into something that blows every other piece of contemporary literature out of the water, though.
