I think that's inevitable in a country as sparsely populated with weather conditions like US's. All those suburbs means a lot more trees that can take out local power lines. I have relatives who live in a very nice suburb, there's ponds and tons of trees there but when the last major cyclone hit and took down like a few thousand trees in the city their power was out for a week because of that, us concrete junglecels had it back in a day.
