Burgers just invented a new type of tipping :marseyxd:

https://old.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/comments/133byh3/now_im_suggested_to_tip_the_kitchen_as_well

Im a chef. We work hard around fire, sharp knives, and wreck our backs in stressful conditions for low wages for the love of the craft. Servers make double or triple what we make a night. You don't have to buy the boys in the back a round of beers if you don't want too, but the fact you’re bitching about a mere suggestion is kind of fricked up. Cheers.

Honestly though I’d rather my tip go to the Kitchen staff rather than a waiter

Same, the "20, 25, or 30%" tip options on the screen killed it for me.

Anytime the default is above 19%, the rest of the customers that blindly click "next" because they feel guilty about it are subsidizing me so I do $0.

Just kidding, I never tip :gigachad2:

I bet if you did this by putting 0 on the waitstaff and 100% to the kitchen the system would be gone by the end of the month because of their tantrums

Well yeah, the people who sell the product are more important than the people who make it. Without the sellers, makers are just a cost liability.

Jump in the discussion.

Lol, this is even higher cope than the other sales thread. Servers will get wiped by kiosks long before AI assistants start digging into higher tier sales teams.

By the time most people have decided what they want the server hasnt done anything but pour their water

Yeah but having a person taking care of your meal helps sell it even if theyre braindead. Look at the prices between self serve vs full service restaurants. Food is often better at self serve diners.

No, consider the fact that he carries food someone else cooked to someone else who will eat it. He deserves 25% minimum

I always enjoy leaving my table after a nice meal out and not giving two shits about the person that just served me.

Its cancerous how its spreading. We have electric crematoriums and after its done they give you the ashes and bones(well it looked mostly like pieces of wood to me but :marseyshrug: I guess whatever they say) in an earthen pot. So my grandmother was cremated and I go there with my uncle. The guy who gives us the pot actually asks for money. :marseyshook: This is at a fricking crematorium I would have refused just on principle the gall of that fricker. He's a government employee too, has pension and shit not some random poorstrag. But my uncle gives him 500(like $8). But he refuses that, he demands 1000. :marseyshook: :marseyshook: Shameless cute twink and my uncle actually gave him the money. More importantly enough people must give it to him for him to have that much of an attitude. For literally doing nothing more than putting some ashes in a pot and sprinkling some water on it. Ig maybe people don't care about arguing at that time. But I'd just pretend I couldn't hear him, grab the pot from his hand and leave. Frick him.

Insanely based. Wish all restaurants had this.

I’m tipping 0% for the roastie drink pourers and 15% for the kitchen lads

I kept hearing over and over that a portion of what you tip the waitress goes to the kitchen, too. Whatever happened to that

Another benefit of being a euro :marseyneet:

Only tip when something out of the ordinary is being done by the staff. E.g. arrive 5 minutes after the kitchen is supposed to have closed, but they take our orders anyway

Jump in the discussion.

yea europoors really stay winning, instead of tipping people we just tip the government 25% on everything

Kitchen staff make a regular wage, though. Servers make only a few bucks an hour which is why tipping is expected. If tipping goes away, servers will be paid at least normal minimum wage, and prices will increase to accommodate that. It’s not like the customer would save money. Plus, this way there is an incentive for the server to do a good job. No tips = why do more than the bare minimum? I have no problem tipping generously when a server is especially good.

The only people who b-word about tipping are poorcels :marseypoor:, Jews :marseymerchant:, and redditors :soycry:.

Servers "doing a good job" is just doing their actual job with a bare minimum of politeness. Its cute how they think they are earning their tips based on merit when in reality it's just a % of the total bill which obviously is a higher number the more work boh does

Jump in the discussion.

This is great, then I can give $1 to the kitchen and $0 to the wait(((staff)))

Jump in the discussion.

As much as I hate servers and would send tips to back of house, this is r-slurred, because any decent restaurant gives their back of house a round or two if they want. It's already a bullshit perk that gets overplayed "oh, I get a free beer or a free shot every night. Makes up for the shit pay and benefits ENTIRELY. And the servers never get a drink ;) which makes them making triple for half my work make total sense." Like corpos doing a pizza party or having free coffee.

In Britain we'd fit as many coins in our foreskins as possible and then run round a building. Person with the least change still in there has to drink piss.

It made more sense at the time.

Is there any possibility of turning back on tipping in America at this point? The only way I can think to stop this is to make it illegal for a business to ask you for a tip, so if you want to tip, you have to manually give it in cash, but that shit isnt happening

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Eh if it gets out of hand people will just go to restaurants without it or just stop tipping. McDonald’s big appeal used to be “no tipping expected”
