Genuinely curious why this got so much pushback when they've been blackwashing characters for like a decade

Like when the BBC (heheh) made Achilles black for their Troy show

I think it's cause people just don't like Jada Smith

It was an actual known historical figure where we know 100% their lineage.

Also, I think it was made by an actual Black supremacist to be racist against white and arabs.

Th BBC actually did receive plenty of pushback, but again, I doubt the Troy show claimed to be a documentary - that's really the key factor, that Netflix is calling it a documentary

If it was just a show it would have received way less pushback

This one for a lot of Egyptians is just very personal since for years now they're being bombarded by black people all over Africa and America and the UK with claims that they're fake, and colonisers, and all that shit

Additionally, the actress who portrayed Cleopatrx (they/them) is a hotep who actually believes that Egyptians were Blxck, that Arabs are foreign colonizers, and that this documentary is a stunning and brave political statement :marseyitsallsotiresome:

How do afrocentrists explain this?

https://i.rdrama.net/images/1683991649286634.webp

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fayum_mummy_portraits

This portraits were made in the early roman egyptian era, in the decades after the fall of the Ptolemaic Dynasty. This young fellow looks like an average modern egyptian.

Or this: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/nubians-egypt.html

Nubians are clearly depicted as different from the egyptians.

They'd just say that since this is too close to the Roman era, that these nibbas are just racist Arab KKKolonizers and not real Edgyptians, there is no mystery about what the Ancient Egyptians looked like - go to Egypt, and look at the faces of people in there, you are looking at Ancient Egyptians, iirc despite the thousand-year Arabization, the DNA of modern Egyptians changed very little and is almost identical to the ancient ones, ditto with the Ancient Greeks, modern Greeks are pretty much the same people as the ancient homos too.

These tards claim to be fighting against white colonialism and white-centric shit, so why don't they just make movies about the many native African empires that existed throughout history?, they don't, because they do not give a shit about the countless incredible and unique African cultures at all to begin with, they are themselves Western-centric r-slurs who simply change the skin color of their favorite European-centric empires, much like mayo supremacists, they view Western culture as superior to others and prefer them over non-Westoid ones, and when it comes to Africa, they just use Egypt, since the romanticization of Egypt has been a thing among Europoors since the Roman Era.

Heck, if they want to LARP as Egyptians, then they could at least make a series set in the Nubian 25th dynasty, which was actually controlled by black pharaohs, because the Kushites invaded Egypt, and not the other way around, but this black pharaoh dynasty only lasted for around 90 years, not all of ancient Egypt, in the end, the name "Cleopatra" generates more $$$$, so they ignore the Nubian dynasty too, they also amalgamate all of Africa from Morocco to Mozambique as a single country inhabited by rich upper-class African-Americans from LA, so if they made a movie about Mansa Musa, they would not care about the historical context of the Malian Empire of the 14th century that generates an interesting and unique story, they would just make it about 21st century twitter shit.

the name "Cleopatra" generates more $$$$

She is also the most famous Pharaoh besides Ramses II maybe. But black americans obsessing over the Ptolemaic period is so bizarre considering it was almost an Apartheid lite state. The aristocracy and most of the upper bureaucracy of this period was composed by the Helenistic upper class who didn’t even speak the egyptian language, and if I recall it correctly, Cleopatra VII was the first in the Dynasty to learn the language.

not to mention the fact that american slaves were taken from an area FAR from nubia, so even if the greek egyptians were actually nubians, they'd still have zero ties to black americans

it's like 4000 miles from the "slave coast" area to khartoum

Not only that, but Nubians and Ethiopians are also very different phenotypically speaking in comparison to West Africans, you can easily set both groups apart. However it is extremely unlikely afrocentrists will reclaim heritage from places like the Kingdom of Kongo, which thrived thanks to the slave trade, hence the egyptomania.

Genuinely curious why this got so much pushback when they've been blackwashing characters for like a decade

  1. There's been a lot more prior historical discussion on whether ancient Egyptians were black, meaning that this was more likely to cause genuine historical confusion

  2. While white/western cultures have acquiesced to blackwashing, non-white cultures have not and blackwashing their characters is likely to cause ethnic seething from backwards chuds who are less understanding of globohomo norms.

You have to watch the trailer for this thing, it's explicitly marketed as hotep revisionism. At least Channel 5 wasn't trying to convince you Anne Boleyn was actually black.

Achilles is a fictional character and the Troy series wasn’t heavily promoted on social media (still stupid when the Iliad describes Achilles as having golden hair). Cleopatra is an actual historical figure, but there is a scene in the “documentary” shown in the trailer where a woman says “Cleopatra was black”. They are trying to bullshit people and Egyptians and other North Africans are not having it.

BBC shows don't really have that much reach compared to Netflix shows. Your average American chud probably isn't even aware of the BBC shows. Also this pissed off some brown people as well which makes it a lot harder to brush off criticism as racism.

Probably because Troy was just a show and this is called 'a historically accurate documentary'

Why TF are hoteps even claiming Cleopatra, she was literally a member of an ultra incestous colonizer dynasty, members of which hated Egypt so much that she was the first one of them learning local dialect.

Aka perfect example of cumskins to hate.
