Champions league final referee apparently removed because he spoke at some chud event edit: :marseywereback:

https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/13xo7d9/champions_league_final_referee_spoke_at_event

edit: he's staying :marseywereback:

Y'all hypocrites, and reddit in general. Choosing when to be offended and when not. I can't stand people that judge others just by political association (yes, it's bad if it is fascism obviously, or racist or homophobic etc) but I''m talking of simpler things.

You'd burn your mother if she was in a different political spectrum.

true

Mentzen, the leader of the Confederation party, is known for launching the political slogan “We stand against Jews, gays, abortion, taxation and the European Union”.

most subtle rightoid :#brainletmaga:

This was not an event about this ‘far-right’ party btw

Yeah, it was a fully business-centered, networking event.

Nobody should go hand in hand with Menzen, but calling Marciniak an antisemite, homophobe and other shit because he took the bag and gave a lecture about his own story to other businessmen is hardly reasonable as well.

.....

where was the last world cup btw?

:#marseyqatarworldcup:

Don't really understand the people who don't see why this matters. It's not enough for uefa / FIFA to just simply not be openly racist or anti-gay organisations. To overcome decades of prejudice they must be visibly ANTI-racist and PRO-equal rights. They have to promote a positive image not just silence both sides.

In the face of that imperative, having a referee who is by his presence lending his support to anti-gay, anti-jew political figures is clearly an issue.

As for the "footballs not politics" brigade, the racists and homophobes brought those issues into football, not the victims. As long as there is racism and homophobia then there is politics in sport.

:#marsoy2:

do you know who else drank water?

Hitler

Dude got invited to speak alongside other successful people during a business event, which had little to nothing to do with politics. Of course some irrelevant social justice org had to use it to make themselves famous.

And redditors see a hyperbolic headline as an opportunity to crowbar in their karma farming dogma. Who’s to say he didn’t quietly tell the guy at this event to sit and spin? “But they’re in the same room together”.. the boobs in this comment section either have no grasp on how adult life works, or they’re being wilfully ignorant for the sake of karma

but what else can they do? they are doing the best they can, chud

reddit moment

Indeed :#marseysnoo:

Second thread

Worst part about it is he’s a very professional referee that takes no bullshit

I think the worst part is ‘the respected ref’ attending an event sponsored by a man who said no gays, no Jews, as part of his speech.

says the psg flair.

kill all redditors

The worst thing about this whole situation is the fact that this is going to give Konfederacja(the party which is behind the whole event) even more popularity in Poland

So final in Turkey run by Erdogan between clubs basically owned by two countries who are notorious human right abusers cant be officiated because he attended bussiness convention. All the while Putin buddies are still in high ranks both in UEFA and FIFA and players are ambassadors for awful regimes killing hundreds every year.

Good job you destroyed one man live (and from everyone who actually knows him account and pretty good man), now there is no racism in football.

Yes, all true, but you fail to see the bigger picture - by removing Marciniak as a ref we can post all over social media about a win for progress and equality (it's also in June so bonus points there). That's far more important than actual human rights and all that bullshit.

:#marseyhesright:

I do wonder what would happen if a ref spoke at the same event as Tony Blair or any US President in history. Would they also be cancelled for platforming mass murderers?

And no this isn't whataboutism, it's cold hard factoids courtesy of me, the certified prince of cats.
