/R/neoliberal would support wealth taxes as long as the democrats support it. They are first and foremost a hyperpartisan hack sub.

What even is the demographics of /r/neoliberal nowadays? I know it used to be kind of a radical centrist hangout that caused a lot of seethe from chapos but now it honestly just feels like /r/politics but slightly less boomer.

Ah. So basically another case of β€˜you can disagree on actual economic positions, which are point of the sub, but cannot be a leftist/democrat if you don’t enthusiastically support the current narrative on social issues.

Yes, their β€œbig tent” is all about making mainstream dems to get along with socialists and bernie bros against le evil GOP. They argue that β€œhuman rights are more important than economic policy” to discourage centre-right types to vote for moderate Mitt Romney like republicans. Their takes on LATAM are usually very bad as well. I have a feeling some of them would vote for a resurrected Lenin if he ran with a D next to his name against Orange Man or DeSantis.

Which is funny because there used to be unironic Mitt Romney support there.

After the 2020 elections they became another β€œblue no matter who” sub. They opened the floodgates to succs and unironic democratic socialists like AOC fans because of their β€œbig tent” nonsense. Their only consistent policies are β€œtrans rights good”, β€œorange man bad”, β€œGOP bad” and β€œdems can do no wrong”.
