Potential happening. /u/legweed (head honcho of /r/AdviceAnimals) has had their permissions reduced to modmail and the subreddit has been reopened. The working idea is that a lesser mod was able to get Reddit to reopen the subreddit and coup the head mod.

I wonder what can be done to harden a sub against admin interference? ie: ways to cuck future top mods and ingrain yourself into the system with auto mod, working through webhooks, leaving non-trusted/installed mods out of non-Reddit modchat or something.

Thanks for the DC bby
I donβt think thereβs anything to you can do to code your way out of the problem, though. You could probably fly under the radar and as soon as you get admin interference, just dump the entire sub and start a new one with all the same code users, but idk how thatβd work. Maybe would have to be organized over a different platform but at that point, you would just use the new platform lol

trying to pre-empt when the hammer truly comes down, like /r/drama did?

Pretty much. Although why stay on Reddit, at that point? I was on /r/drama since 2014, lurked for so long but loved that sub. Since then, the cancerous smug jackassery of reddit has gone from being contained in just the atheism subs has metastasized across the entire site
If you wanted to contain the powerjanny problem, that's a different story. You pigeonhole them in a way that makes it look like they're doing work (lol)/have responsibility but in a position where they can't actually do any damage. You could have automod undo all their actions after 4 hours or so, and hopefully that doesn't provide a notif that it happened. You could hide their comments after a set period of time so when they lecture people it doesn't show up for everyone else. You could basically gaslamp the shit out of them and that'd be worth doing on it's own lol

There's really nothing you can do. AutoMod runs off a configuration file, so you can't actually implement any of its behavior. You just add or modify rules it follows according to a predefined syntax. Meanwhile, any bots you put on the mod team can easily be removed by an admin.

thanks for the coin but I don't think it has anything to do with coding
probably the best approach is to keep two separate accounts (different IPs/devices) on as mod #1 and mod #2 so they only catch one at a time
ultimately, though, if Reddit Inc wants the sub, they're gonna get it

Right you canβt βwinβ when you donβt own anything. Iβm more thinking in the scope of βwhat are some ways to make it harder for them and maybe survive a less-than-thorough demopping effort

spam "bots" that you really use to enforce personal grudges like /u/hspamslayer that the jannies behind use to ban me from any hentai subs because I got one of them banned . They claim it only removes bot posts

A little bit of social engineering, and using a bot to mask personal actions, seems reasonable enough

Have 95% of your content be your own GPT bots. Then when reddits demods you, just create another sub and use your bots to lure the 5% humans to your new kingnow
