The people in r/portland would not hesitate to condone someone punching the "fash". If you tell them that violence is not the answer, they'd tell you that fascists can't be reasoned with and physically hurting them is the only appropriate response to their existence. Of course, there would also be plenty of "muh Paradox of Tolerance" utterances to explain why certain opinions must be met with fists. The argument "fascists cannot be reasoned with" is exactly correct. The issue isn't the accuracy of that claim, it's that they label anyone that challenges them a fascists thus creating a permission structure to attack anyone they want.
I get called a fascist fairly often by wokies on reddit. This is why I'm very skeptical of anyone trying to justify violence on the basis they're fighting fascism.

I mean if you believe there to be an uptick in fascist rhetoric and right-wing extremists gaining ground politically, it makes sense you'd favor a more dramatic and intense response to said threat.
The idea is you can be sure the fascists won't be wasting time trying to reason with anyone if they obtain real power.
We can't reason with middle eastern fundamentalists, but they also really aren't a threat to our overall well-being.
Human threat response tends to be based on whatever is on the top of your mind at any given time. For the people we're talking about, rising fascism is the most present and local threat.

It’s not too bad. It has (had) the special-wishes program sport exhaust and X51 package so even without mufflers it’s like a finely tuned instrument. Mostly the lower tones around 1500-4K rpm is where the exhaust would normally filter it out, so I just hammer on the gas to keep it out of that range.

Honestly its because theyre all upper middle class sheltered teenagers. They literally cant fathom breaking the rules because for their entire life theyve never had to break a rule for anything because for theirentire lives if they want something they follow some rules in order to get it. Upper middle class means they have the ability to get what they want within the confines of either the law or their parents rules.
Its why "would you steal bread to feed your family?" Is such adiscussed question. Any normal person would say "yeah duh" and if asked about the moral implications theyd laugh, these dorks would hem and haw over how "acktchually it IS morally ok to steal in that instance!" rather than just admitting that morals stop mattering when you need something bad enough.
