Straight up been feeling like that south park episode for years now.
I know it's not just me being depressed, because I get so much enjoyment from older movies, music, books... and there are of course non-dooky things that come out here and there. They're almost never popular.
I'm just listening to pretty well known 60s/70s/80s music and imagining how on earth I could've disliked it if I was around back then. I don't think I'm just being a contrarian and disliking what's popular.
How did we go from Woodstock to Lizzo? How did we go from original blockbuster movies coming out left and right in the 80s to blockbusters being purely capeshit, remakes/reboots, and capeshit wannabes?
More importantly, will this era of cultural stagnation ever end?
Is Western culture dead forever? Am I just a trans-boomer?

It's because looking back you only see the good, entertaining shit that can last decades without being obscured and have people consoom it even now, here in the present though we gotta slog through the boring filler until we get to the good stuff, Breaking bad was only one out of thousands of serials in 2008-2013 but its the show people will remember decades from now and use to characterise the entertainment scene from our time.

Idk 2008-2013 wasnβt that bad for shows was it? A lot of the shows from that era have a bad rap for falling off after that period but I liked the weird mix of thrillers, wacky shit like zombies and survivor inspired shit like wipeout and american ninja warrior.
Actually, that was one of the golden ages of reality tv so you might have a point here.
