Culture is stagnant as frick right now but the tradeoff is it's never been easier to access the entire preceding body of all entertainment and art made in any media. In previous generations the new shit had to be good because the old shit went out of print or they lost the original broadcast tapes or some shit but now you have everything at the click of a mouse button. Just ignore the bad shit and enjoy the good shit and don't worry about it.

My theory is that media is to accessible now thanks to the internet. While it allows independent stuff to bubble up that wouldn't have had a chance otherwise it also gives a platform to complete trash that now just makes it more of a chore to sift through.

At least when it was all milquetoast TV networks curating it you knew it was taking up a time slot. With things like Netflix they can just toss some money at it and throw it up without having to risk anything but some investment capital because people won't change the channel they'll just watch something else on Netflix

It's because looking back you only see the good, entertaining shit that can last decades without being obscured and have people consoom it even now, here in the present though we gotta slog through the boring filler until we get to the good stuff, Breaking bad was only one out of thousands of serials in 2008-2013 but its the show people will remember decades from now and use to characterise the entertainment scene from our time.

in simplest possible terms, it's because old shit was 30% propaganda and 70% story, at worst. modern shit is about 80% propaganda and 20% story, at best.

where people generally lose the plot is when they start trying to assign blame. jews, aliens, reptiles, european white people, jesuits, patriarchy blah blah fricking blah. every single major origin theory has a community of insane and r-slurred people around and in it who've mostly put aside detective work for emotional back-reasoning. the same is true for the filthy haram normies who insist none of this shit is happening, how dare you believe your own lying eyes?

the world is mostly mind-killed at this point, if you take any consistent community and run the clock backwards, the changes are rapid and vast. look at what kind of drama was dealt with five years ago vs. now. look at what was considered extreme porn five yeas ago vs. now. if you change the timescale to a decade or two shit gets even crazier.

we are living through what's generally called 'the singularity' but you can't see that from the outside, and it's only when you stop and mentally zoom all the way out that it becomes more apparent.

anybody who tells you they know exactly what's going to happen next is lying to you, either intentionally to exploit you or unintentionally because they're fricking stupid. suffice to say, prepare for shit to get worse and hope it doesn't. make yourself less dependent on large and complex societal systems and learn how to actually turn touching grass into "ate food that came from the ground i live on".

Passive mediums (film, tv, music, books) are played out and now relegated to boring propagandists. Today's auteurs (still propagandists) work in mediums where the patron is an active participant: Q posters, lolcow milkers, and game designers.

For the past few years I've been avoiding new release films (except when I go to the cinema with friends), instead working my way through all the great horror films and film classics.

As for my favourite medium, comics (not capeshit tho), I've avoided American comics and mostly read European comics. So much great shit being translated today.

My best explanation for why I'm avoiding new American films and books, in favour of classic and foreign stuff, I'd say it's because identity politics has knackered the shit out of the creative community in the U.S. in a way that doesn't seem nearly as pronounced in Europe.

Lowest common denominator shit tends to be bad. Also your taste is probably specific and so general audience stuff will never hit as well as niche stuff.

When i was a kid i loved 60s-80s rock and thought the present day stuff sucked so bad (it did) but then i aged and realized all the shit i liked was garbage too. The 60s matter only because press boomers were huffing their own jenkem for 50 years until vloggers made them irrelevant.

All I have ever wanted was to love women, but their behavior has only earned my hatred. I want to have s*x with them, and make them feel good, but they would be disgusted at the prospect. They have no sexual attraction towards me. It is such an injustice, and I vehemently questioned why things had to be this way. Why do women behave like vicious, stupid, cruel animals who take delight in my suffering and starvation? Why do they have a perverted sexual attraction for the most brutish of men instead of gentlemen of intelligence?
