I wonder if it's maybe them insecure about aging? If they have a young, attractive woman they're seen with and dating then it makes them still seem desirable even though they've exited their “prime.” I do think these men, like Jason and Leo, are probably very emotionally immature or want women who are either still figuring themselves out or aren't as ready to settle down as maybe an older woman would be.
