In some countries getting a PhD isn't actually difficult. Postdocs from India are notoriously useless.

I think the standards have been lowered over here significantly too. Whenever I see a xitter post from somebody that has "PhD" in their name I automatically brace myself for the dumbest take I'll read all day.

You don't need to be particulaly smart to get a PhD, even in a scientific fields, just be able to do obscene amounts of tedious work.
