Is this at all similar to the Auschwitz-esque alpaca ranch in Colorado in which the ranch was so poorly managed that its environmental impact was so severe that you could see it from Google Earth?

They had spirit but were incompetent and naive, their administration was unstable and easily distracted from what mattered, their social media presence corrosive.
I feel bad for the animals, the neighbors, and the members of the ranch, but what really gets me is what a waste it all was. It COULD have improved people's lives, as a touristy/stayaway ranch experience camp spot or an opportunity to apprentice with ruralcel homos, or if they really fricking wanted that permanent population cult compound lifestyle without paid farmhands/instructors, they could have at least roomed some employed people and went with easier shit like chickens.
Yeah it seemed more sad than funny from the outside looking in. If I could go back in time I'd force them off of social media and make them take classes in animal husbandry or some shit.

A few helpful souls tried to guide the tranch to better paths, but it was insane leadership with contradictory and annoying demands that drove them off. You'd have just come out of it more broke and more transphobic for the effort.
Even with all their shortcomings they would have had a better chance if they kept the goodwill of their community. And that's part of the layered tragicomedy of it all.
The issue is all trans people are so intrinsically mentally ill and taught their entire transition via dogma that THEIR comfort is paramount. When society tells you everyone must cater to your needs all of the sudden a group of only those people will refuse to be held responsible for such animal abuse
