OP is legitimately mentally ill, all she does is complain on Antiwork and Childfree about how she hates working 40 hours a week with two job just to spoil her child.

i'd only live in the USA if i was guaranteed to make at least like 60k/yr minimum. being poor in europe is miles better than being poor in the USA

from my understanding, in cities like LA or DC you have 3 million dollar family homes with ppl pulling six figures a year, but 500meters away you have ppl living in shitty flats, as poor as some gypsy in rural romania. and the rich wont pay for the poor ppls public services, so rich kids will go to well funded public schools, while poorcels go to rotting schools full of minorities

like in my high school class, i had ppl ranging from the poorest family not even owning a car and living in the same commie block their grandfather did 30 years ago, to the kid living in a suburban mansion with indoor AND outdoor pool, getting a bmw M3 for his 17th birthday before he even got his driving license. the difference is enormous but they're both getting the same education, and both can continue their studies at universities fully funded by the government

can some USAcel enlighten me, i dont know any americans and i dont want to talk to redditors

This is how it was in the US too for me. In my public high school we had super rich kids to homeless kids living out of a car and everything in between. Gangbangers (mexican varient) to Saudi princes who were confused at the lack of maids to bring them lunch.

Property taxes go towards public schools, so rich land owners are still paying for the public schools even if their kids don't go to them. How this is distributed varies from county to county. Most areas pool all the money from the county and split it up evenly between all the schools in the county based on number of students, but some of the most "progressive" counties will give the money only to the most local school leading to huge funding differences between the poor and rich areas of town.

On a grad student stipend of 28k/yr for 5 years, I paid off all my undergrad debt, took two week+ vacations overseas, flew back home across the US for the holidays or events every year or more, built a new computer, bought a car, paid my copay for an emergency surgery, and ate out way more than I should have. Just don't live in a big city. I wasn't even out in the sticks or anything like that, just kind of general suburbia in mid-US.

That's one minute of my life I'll never get back. I should know better than to read the comments of a European.

To answer your question, no truly well off person is gonna send their kid to a public school in a city. But they still gotta pay taxes to support it, which is a lot more than whatever the poors are paying. Those taxes also pay for the state universities, which are cheap enough already and have a lot of scholarships for poor people too. Graduate from there and your basically have to be a complete r-slur with a shit degree to not get a job paying around 60k right off the bat.
