Theoretically, couldn't you get someone banned from reddit by having them log into an account?

If one were to make accounts that violated lots of subreddits' rules and got banned from random subreddits, then do it again with further accounts to get them suspended for ban evasion, could you someone use these to get a third party suspended by either:

  1. convincing them to log into an account with provided login credentials?

  2. somehow attach your own browser id/ip and reddit cookie information to a link and have them click it?

Maybe I'm just :marseybrainlet: but I'm not sure how automated you could make this process so it would be way easier.

lol no. First idea could be an alright (if extremely convoluted) way to get people banned, though. Just keep in mind that in the "account activity" section they'll easily be able to see your IP address and User-Agent, so make sure to use a VPN and maybe even a User-Agent Switcher. The best way to get people banned is still to just use pushshift to search up naughty words on their accounts (r-slur, BIPOC, cute twink, etc), report them, and hope whoever monitors reports speaks English as a second language (which they probably do).

Is there a way to prepare the link so when they click it the fields are already filled in and initiating the process of logging in?

Sites where you have to sign in with an e-mail address wil often send you a link through your e-mail that will automatically sign you in but there's a few major problems with that

  1. Reddit doesn't do that

  2. Even if Reddit did do that, it's checked with cookies (precisely to stop people from clicking links sent to them by strangers and automatically logging into a sketchy account)

  3. Even if it didn't check cookies, it wouldn't work on people who are already signed in (who you're targeting)

  4. Who knows if they would even get banned for ban evasion? Even if you use the same IP, never clear your cookies or cache, get half a dozen accounts banned. etc, etc, there's still a good chance you won't get IP banned, so there's very little chance that somebody who logs into an account and then presumably immediately logs out will get IP banned (which they can still easily avoid).

The only useful thing you could do by getting somebody to log into a Reddit account (the best tactic of which is probably pretending the password leaked and hoping they an inquisitve individual) is getting their IP and User Agent, which you could much more easily do and get much more information from by sending them to either a site you own or an IP grabber site. Like I said, the best way to get somebody banned is by reporting old comments of theirs with slurs in them, no matter the context; in fact the owner of the original pushshift search site had to remove the ability to search by user since it was so effective in getting people banned and so many power mods were being banned.

i mean it's viable but if you're good enough to social engineer to achieve 1 or haxx0r enough to achieve 2, getting someone's reddit account banned seems pretty pointless when you could use those skills to get real money

America is authoritarian in government and fascist in Wall Street, who runs the economic model. You'd laugh if I told you that you live under fascism and authoritarianism and you'd probably flee to freer countries. Corporations collectively decide who to hire, what to pay, what to raise wages by, how to exploit and trample on their employees, what the education, experience, age requirements are, whether are not you deserve benefits, how safe and ergonomic is your working environment, how much of your wages to steal or unpaid work, how long you work, how long is your vacation, how much workload, how much to verbally abuse you and etc. Modern classical economists have said wall street, corporations and small businesses are like mini governments and anything except physical abuse goes. Wall street is political donor class so government becomes authoritarian (aka taking or reducing your rights) and introducing neo-liberal (pro-wall street) polices. Buddy, nazis may have killed the jews but the 1% will steal your labour, slave you away, and these days lead to an untimely death (slow death by a thousand cuts). But I need a car, a house, a vacation, home time, enough for healthy food, retirement, medical, student debt, marriage, kids, hobbies, miscellaneous expenses. Wall street will say you poor bastard and import another one or lock you up if you try resisting. Would you flee if you're not the established class already? In history people have killed the tyrants or left. Those who stay are dumb farm animals for them to thrive on and hopefully they reproduce and stay blinded by debt and servitude with materialism, sense of "american dream 9-5 duty", credit addiction and internet/electronics addiction (aka stockholm syndrome). There is really no precedent to this turbo-techno capitalism system we're facing. Why did this happen? They went off gold, so that's why it feels money feels like coins in an arcade. It wouldn't be possible otherwise because it would destroy the currency internationally to print so much. America had 80% of the worlds gold after ww2 and had the opportunity say to every country, starting now US dollars replace gold and are not backed by it.
